While most car companies are constantly searching for ways to keep their new cars ahead of the curve for safety awards the year they are released, not many think of the long term. Yes, a car can be safe the way you buy it, but how does that rate to the safety standards of tomorrow when the car get’s on in years?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recently named a line of older Honda Vehicles as ‘safer choices for Teen Drivers’ in a recent list they published, and went on to say, “Honda is the most durable and longest lasting brand in it’s class.”

This says a lot for Honda. Not only are they providing a top quality and safe vehicle today, but it is still gaining recognition years down the road.

Brand Loyalty can be an important part of your decisions to buy products. We all have trusted brands that we have used for years, and it’s hard to switch to something else because we know that the specific product or brand has done us well. It’s no different with cars.

It’s a very common situation to have clients come in that are on their 4th or 5th Honda. In some cases, Honda was their first car, and they have stuck with the brand ever since. The reliability and trust with the company and the product, as well as the VIP treatment that they get from their local parts and service centre keeps them coming back.

Honda works hard to keep clients coming back. As a manufacturer, they make sure that they listen to what their clients have to say about their vehicles, and make any changes needed to keep giving you what YOU want. They also do an amazing job with financing discounts for returning customers to help keep costs down on a quality and dependable car.

Any time you move from a Honda Finance to another Honda Finance, being either a Lease or a Purchase Finance, you automatically get a 1% discount on your financing rate. During amazing events like the Honda Checkered Flag event where Honda is offering 0.99%, YEAH!!! You do the math.

How quickly can I get my car?

Another question that I am asked often from my guests is, “How quickly can I get my car?”

Most of the time with buying a new car, there is a minimum of 48-hours from when you purchase the car until when you can pick it up. This time is needed to make sure we can get all of the papers, inspection, and detail in order to not only make sure that the car can be correctly registered, but also to make sure everything about the car needs the Honda standard, and a full detail is completed to clean it up from shipping.

Since I started in car sales, I have learned actually how many steps a car has to go through in order to be ready for you. It’s actually quite amazing how all of the departments work together to make sure everything is smooth for you. The goal is to remove as much work from you as possible to get your new car. This includes our Finance and Insurance Team getting notifying your insurance company of the change, and getting your license plates updated.

But now, back to the original question. How long can it take?

Well, if we have the vehicle you are looking for in stock, the average turn around time is 48-hours. If we have to locate the vehicle from another storage lot somewhere else in the province, we are sometimes at the mercy of those inventory managers picking up their phones and/or calling us back to confirm they still have what we are looking for. Then, once we know it’s there, we dispatch drivers to secure the vehicle for you. This can add a few days to the process.

And in other situation, we have the vehicle you are looking for already ordered and incoming on a truck. When that happens, we will have a projected date for you, so you will have a better idea as to when it may come in.

Of course…at the end of the day, the Henley Honda Team is 100% driven to get you into your new car. At the end of the day, we cannot get paid for our work until your car is delivered, so we are just as motivated as you are to make the connection.

The best way to get the car you want quickly is to purchase early in the production year to make sure there is a large inventory of color and model. Another great way is to have a couple color options so that we are able to get you projected dates on how quickly we can prepare a vehicle for you.

The New Honda Fit, Soon!

I am incredibly excited about the 2015 Honda Fit that’s going to be released soon. After first seeing and getting my hands on it at the Toronto International Auto Show, I have been pumped. This new car is going to be a game changer for this segment in the market.

At this time, the Canadian release date is still up in the air. It’s coming, but we are not sure the day yet. But that doesn’t stop us from taking pre-orders!

Are you buying a car? Or are you buying a payment?


When looking for a new or used car, everyone has a projected budget in mind. An idea of what they would like to spend on their purchase. Some people think in the terms of a monthly or bi-weekly payment, some people think about the bottom line number. Either way, it’s an important consideration when your looking into getting a car, but don’t let that rule your decision.

It’s very important to be looking for a great value and a great deal, but it’s also important to remember that you need to get an amazing product for your money. Paying less for a car doesn’t always mean you are getting a good deal on a great car. Sometimes it means you are paying less for a car. It’s not a great car, but your paying less. That’s the goal, right? Not for me.

Just like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Any time there is a huge discount, or a feature or warranty added to a car, that money has to come from somewhere. Car sales is a business, so money has to be made on every vehicle sold, so where does that money come from?

Well, cars are built to a price. A manufacturer designs cars to be sold for a competitive amount of money compared to it’s rivals. Some cars are built with features and a level of quality to meet that price, and some are built with a lower level of features and quality so that they can add major discounts later, or to pack in a super long warranty. But guess what…you still have to pay for that somewhere down the line. Nothing is free.

Keep an eye out when you are looking at cars. Make sure you do the research so you know what the cares are actually worth vs their rivals. And hey, why not ask the dealership to see the invoice pricing? An honest dealer will show you how much profit is in their car and work with you on a fair price. The Internet is an amazing resource to check all of that information to make sure they are being truthful.

I’m lucky to sell a great product that is worth the money that is asked. I’m also lucky to work for an honest dealership that holds great value in our reputation in the community and want to build relationships with our guests.

Everything and every one has a history. A series of events that brought them to now and helped them form into the person or the company that they are today. But history can tell a lot about a person or a company…so pay attention.

Since I have been working with Honda, I have been doing a lot of research into the past. It’s important for me to work with a company that feel good about and a company that I can share values with. Honda is 100% that company.

The history and the culture created with Honda is amazing. The company has literally been formed out of ashes and through hard work and determination, become one of the world leaders in motor products. Not just with cars, but also with motorcycles, and small engines.
