Is that your best price?

Thinking back to all my discussions with my guests, I feel like this is the most asked question during the entire buying experience. And I don’t blame people for asking. It’s a natural reaction when presented with the final pricing for a car.

I find that my guests will fall in love with the car, but still want to make sure that they are getting a fair deal. No one wants to pay more for something, and everyone always wants to make sure they are not leaving any money on the table. We all work hard for our money, and want to keep as much of it as possible.

We have all heard horror stories from the past with car salesmen. The shady car lots that you feel like you have to take a shower after you leave, or the brand name dealers that tuck in hidden fee’s to add more profit into the deal. But that’s all a thing of the past. With OMVIC enforcing fair practices, and the level of competition being at an all time high, there is no room for playing around.

Truth is, profit margins are tight on all cars now. Gone are the days where you can get thousands off a car, UNLESS the manufacturer has inflated their invoice prices to give dealerships additional kick back. That means that the room to move on a quality car is minimal, or a brand is building a poor quality car and charging a high quality price so that they can look like a better deal at the end of the day when they tell you that you are getting thousands off.

For me, I just like to be straight up and honest in the first place. I’m confident in my product and I trust my management team to help me give you a great deal. The Honda product line is build to quality, and you can trust that you will not only get a great value for your car today, but that it will also maintain it’s value down the line incase you want to resell.

In the end, car sales are a business, and a business needs to make some money on a car in order to pay the teas that are here to support you. What is Apple Car Play?

Since the official announcement of the new Apple Car Play in Honda cars, I have fielded a lot of questions about exactly what Apple Car Play is, what it does, and when it will be available.

Apple Car Play is an amazing addition to the technology placed in the Honda cars. It helps create an even more seamless integration between the cars interface and the Apple iPhone. It will offer full voice control over the phone through the cars interface, as well as additional car/phone functions through the touch screen in the dash.

Overall, the Apple Car Play is a big step forward to making our cars mesh better with our every day lives by connecting with our smartphones…which for some, have become a very important part of our communication and organization.

We expect to see Apple Car Play in the new Honda’s by the end of the year.

Honda Design is more than skin deep

You always look under the hood, but how often to you get to look under the car?

Honda has always focused on vehicle design that is effective and innovative. It’s not always prettiest vehicle offered on the market, but underneath it’s skin is an army of designers with a mission on create a vehicle that will outlast the competition while saving fuel and exceeding your performance expectations.

Whenever possible, I like to check out the chassis and design of parts that you can’t see. The things that for most vehicles are an after thought. This is where you can truly see the level of detail that a manufacturer puts into their cars.

Next time your car is in for service, ask to see what it looks like underneath. Do you see the level of attention that you expect in your car?

New York Auto Show – Even More to Come

It’s not you, it’s Me: My affair with good fuel mileage

Over the past few years, I have been driving a 2012 Ford F-150 EcoBoost Super Crew. You know, that new V6 Twin Turbo motor that was supposed to get 14L/100km City and 9.6L/100km Highway? Well, those numbers were significantly under estimated, and I calculated with the average fuel price of $1.30 per litre, I was paying $25 per 100km I was driving in the city. Yikes!!

But don’t worry, things have changed. Since I got into my new 2014 Honda Civic EX, I have broken off my dependency and torrid relationship with gas stations. Gone are the days that I had to put $50 into the truck every few days, and now I’m only putting $50 in the car every week and a half.

Pump Prices

Obviously, I knew long ago that I was going to have to make a change in vehicle, but I was afraid what the negative equity from the truck would do to the payment of my new car. Yes, absorbing a sizable amount of negative equity into a new car lease does change the monthly numbers a bit, but the fuel savings alone more than make up for the difference. It was a no brainer to make the move.

Maybe my F150 to Civic story is a bit extreme of an example. It we are comparing apples to oranges with use and size of vehicle, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t benefit from better fuel economy from a car to a car as well.

With the new CVT Tranmission, and updates to the Civics engine and exhaust, you will see an improvement in fuel mileage from most cars. Even the 2013 year Civic models. And if your car is 5+ years old, it’s efficiency will have dropped and you will be using more fuel than when the car was new.

With the ever fluctuating prices of fuel, the one thing that’s certain is that you need to find a comfortable and safe car that uses as little gas as possible to maximize your savings. Every dollar you spend on fuel can’t be returned. It’s gone. But can you spend less?

Maybe it’s time we look at the numbers. Come check out a new car and we can see if it’s financially responsible for you to upgrade to something more fuel efficient.

Few people can say that they are excited to go to work every day. A lot of people see work as a nessicary evil, or a means to an end. Something that you have to do so that you can afford to do the things that you want to do.

“Honda Loves You Back”

What a fun campaign Honda did to show appreciation for Honda owners. It puts a big smile on my face.

Honda set up stations and promotion days to surprise drivers with every day things like free parking, a car wash, lunch, and even back massages…all for owning a Honda!

That’s right…these were real life situations where people were pulling into parking lots, or driving down the road, and they were pleasantly surprised by freebies. And all because they love their Honda’s, so Honda loved them back.

Honda Recall – 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey

Honda Canada has issued a recall for 63,628 Honda Odyssey’s build between 2005-2010.

The recall is to replace the fuel filter on the vans due to possible cracks in the cover.

The fault is caused by chemicals in car wash water, and to date, there are no known injuries.

Please check out this link for more information. Owners of the vehicles impacted will be receiving information in the mail. If you have purchased your 2005-2010 Odyssey privately, please contact your local dealership.

Resource Canada names two Honda Vehicles

Two of the Honda Hybrid models were recognized by Resource Canada as being the most fuel efficient vehicles in their class for 2014.

Natural Resources Canada recognizes the most fuel-efficient new light-duty vehicles in their class sold in Canada each model year. Best-in-class vehicles have the lowest estimated annual fuel use, based on 20,000 km driven with a mix of 55 percent city and 45 percent highway. For each class, the most fuel-efficient conventional vehicle and the most efficient advanced technology vehicle are recognized.

The awards were given to the 2014 Accord Hybrid, and the 2014 CR-Z.

At the store, we have had a lot of interest on the Accord Hybrid with it’s 4L/100km city fuel mileage rating. The CR-Z is an amazing little two-seater sports coupe with a Hybrid function to help lower emissions and fuel costs.

Congrats to the engineers that have made these cars possible. It’s a good day to own a Honda.
