While most car companies are constantly searching for ways to keep their new cars ahead of the curve for safety awards the year they are released, not many think of the long term. Yes, a car can be safe the way you buy it, but how does that rate to the safety standards of tomorrow when the car get’s on in years?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recently named a line of older Honda Vehicles as ‘safer choices for Teen Drivers’ in a recent list they published, and went on to say, “Honda is the most durable and longest lasting brand in it’s class.”
This says a lot for Honda. Not only are they providing a top quality and safe vehicle today, but it is still gaining recognition years down the road.
Looking at a new or used Honda for you and your family?
The Honda Indy in Toronto has become a pretty big deal.
The Honda Indy is not just about racing anymore. The event has attracted some amazing side shows to the weekend to help bring a little something for everyone. Not just the car lovers.
This year, in addition to features like Gourmet Food Trucks, the event has also added live entertainment like the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series for its Canadian Championships. Fans in attendance will be able to see top professional logger sports athletes compete in such events as the Standing Block Chop, the STIHL Stock Saw, the Underhand Chop, the Single Buck, the Springboard and the Hot Saw. You will also see the Toronto leg of the SCOTT FireFit Championships, a series of events that have been described as Olympics for firefighters and smokeaters.
You can also check out the return of the JR Honda Red Riders to see the fundamentals of offroad dirt biking.
I’m going to be at the end trying to take it all in. There will be so much to do, and I will only be there for one day to do it.
Are you going to be at the Honda Indy in Toronto this year?
We have all see commercials for services like Car Proof and Car Fax. It puts a funny little spin on the importance of knowing what services were available to you as a consumer to make sure you have all of the important details of a used car before you purchase it.
The truth is, used vehicle histories are not that funny. It’s a pretty serious manner considering that anything like an accident or repaint can greatly impact the value of a car, and in some cases a seller may want to gloss over these facts in hopes that the buyer will not notice.
Working in a dealership, I spend a good part of my day collecting information to have trade appraisals completed. A part of the process is to ask a series of disclosure questions to the current owner to make sure we get all of the details to get a proper assessment, and also make sure a future buyer of that vehicle has all of the details they need to make an informed decision.
As a dealership, it is our responsibility to perform background checks and do our due diligence on all vehicles that come through us and to make sure that no one is surprised by vehicle details. We will also pull a report on the cars history with a service like Car Proof and/or Car Fax to make sure all of the information that we collect is accurate, and the next buyer can see all of the vehicles history.
Here at Henley Honda, we check and include all vehicle reports with every used vehicle we sell. We keep a file on every car to show you service history, as well as the cars history so that you can buy with confidence. If we don’t show you right away, ask…we are completely open.
Even if you’re not buying from Henley Honda, insist that you see a Car Proof or Car Fax even before talking about price.

Everything and every one has a history. A series of events that brought them to now and helped them form into the person or the company that they are today. But history can tell a lot about a person or a company…so pay attention.
Since I have been working with Honda, I have been doing a lot of research into the past. It’s important for me to work with a company that feel good about and a company that I can share values with. Honda is 100% that company.
The history and the culture created with Honda is amazing. The company has literally been formed out of ashes and through hard work and determination, become one of the world leaders in motor products. Not just with cars, but also with motorcycles, and small engines.
Check out this video that touches a little on the History and how Honda was formed. It’s an oldie, but it’s still fun to watch.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second oldest motor sports race in American. Since 1916, this race is run on a 12.42 mile course with 156 turns that beings at 9,390 feet and finishes at the 14,115 foot summit of the Pikes Peak Mountain.
The Pikes Peak race has always been the true test of driver, machine, and pit crew. As the cars climb the mountain, the air thins out and robs the cars of 30% of their power by the time they hit the hill. Drivers also have to contend with the dangers of insane speeds into hairpin corners with cliff drops that you could not walk away from. All in the quest to be named ‘King of the Mountain.”
For 2014, Honda has joined Pikes Peak as a partner in the race. With their support, Honda is looking to extend their racing heritage and compete on all levels.
In the past, Honda has entered the Fit, and the Odyssey in the race, as well as motor cycles and quads.
With this partnership, we can expect to see even more coverage and participation from the Race Teams at Honda.
I’m excited to see what Honda has in store with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Race.

One of the best things a business owner can do is support his community, and encourage his customers and employees to do the same.

Since I was old enough to know what they were, cars have always been my motivation and drive to do better. They have always been my milestone goals and target prize for excellent performance.
It’s good to know that I’m not the only one. It seems that the world is addicted to cars, and the things that you can do to cars. It inspires art and drives innovation to the next level.
Check out this video of a drift battle between a car, and yeah…a semi!!! Wow! It’s amazing what can be done with engineering and the need to do something silly.
Since the official announcement of the new Apple Car Play in Honda cars, I have fielded a lot of questions about exactly what Apple Car Play is, what it does, and when it will be available.
Apple Car Play is an amazing addition to the technology placed in the Honda cars. It helps create an even more seamless integration between the cars interface and the Apple iPhone. It will offer full voice control over the phone through the cars interface, as well as additional car/phone functions through the touch screen in the dash.
Overall, the Apple Car Play is a big step forward to making our cars mesh better with our every day lives by connecting with our smartphones…which for some, have become a very important part of our communication and organization.
We expect to see Apple Car Play in the new Honda’s by the end of the year.
