The Danger of Curbsiders

What is a curbsider? Well, OMVIC defines a curb sider as;

Curbsiders are illegal, unlicensed vehicle dealers. They often pose as private sellers, though some operate from small automotive businesses (repair shops, rental companies, etc.)

Curbsiders not only misrepresent themselves – they often misrepresent the vehicles they sell. Many are previous write-offs with undisclosed accident-damage or are odometer-tampered.

Sounds bad, eh? But you’re smarter than that, right? Over the past few years, I have met so many people that have been taken by someone that they thought was a honest person selling a car privately, or their friend ‘had a guy,’ that was able to get them a better deal on a vehicle, but then ended up learning in the end that the deal they got was a scam and their car was misrepresented or even a danger to them.

Curbsiders can be very crafty. Their goal is to sell you a vehicle at the maximum amount of profit without properly disclosing problems with a vehicle or making only making the basic repairs to get it to pass a government safety.  This means that what vehicle that you thought you were paying a fair amount of money is worth far less, or even worse, a danger to you.

This is a problem with car sales that has been around since cars were for sale. There will always be someone that has a great deal for you and seems very trusting. You want to believe the stories as to why they have to sell the vehicle, but remember that these people make their living on selling vehicles that maybe should not be re-sold again.

Be very careful when looking at private dealers or buying from people off the street. Always ask for an updated Carproof, and if you can get the VIN number and mileage, check with the MTO and your local dealer to make sure that checks out and see if there are any red flags. And if possible, insist on a pre-inspection from your own trusted mechanic. Most dealers would be happy to help.

And the hits just keep on coming…

June sales Edit

For six consecutive months, Honda Canada has posted growth in sales.

What does this mean? It means that Canada loves Honda, and more and more people are buying Honda’s.

Honda is trusted as a well priced, reliable, and safe vehicle across the line up. Why wouldn’t you want to drive a Honda?

Come in and check out why more and more people are buying Honda’s

Setting the Standard for used cars

While most car companies are constantly searching for ways to keep their new cars ahead of the curve for safety awards the year they are released, not many think of the long term. Yes, a car can be safe the way you buy it, but how does that rate to the safety standards of tomorrow when the car get’s on in years?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recently named a line of older Honda Vehicles as ‘safer choices for Teen Drivers’ in a recent list they published, and went on to say, “Honda is the most durable and longest lasting brand in it’s class.”

This says a lot for Honda. Not only are they providing a top quality and safe vehicle today, but it is still gaining recognition years down the road.

Looking at a new or used Honda for you and your family?

Another great car going to another amazing client

New Image

Delivering new cars is amazing. I love this day for my clients when they get to come in and see their new vehicle for the first time, and how excited they get when I hand them the keys.

It’s a great feeling for them, and it’s a great feeling for me.

What does Brand Loyalty do for you at Honda?

costomer loyalty crossword

Brand Loyalty can be an important part of your decisions to buy products. We all have trusted brands that we have used for years, and it’s hard to switch to something else because we know that the specific product or brand has done us well. It’s no different with cars.

It’s a very common situation to have clients come in that are on their 4th or 5th Honda. In some cases, Honda was their first car, and they have stuck with the brand ever since. The reliability and trust with the company and the product, as well as the VIP treatment that they get from their local parts and service centre keeps them coming back.

Honda works hard to keep clients coming back. As a manufacturer, they make sure that they listen to what their clients have to say about their vehicles, and make any changes needed to keep giving you what YOU want. They also do an amazing job with financing discounts for returning customers to help keep costs down on a quality and dependable car.

Any time you move from a Honda Finance to another Honda Finance, being either a Lease or a Purchase Finance, you automatically get a 1% discount on your financing rate. During amazing events like the Honda Checkered Flag event where Honda is offering 0.99%, YEAH!!! You do the math.

To all of you that currently drive a Honda…Thank you.
To anyone that has been considering a Honda, or has never had the experience of driving a Honda…let’s talk. Let’s start to build loyalty.

Toronto Indy: Takes it one step further

Off-Road racing has always been my passion. I love the trucks, jumps, sounds, and horsepower. When all four tires are leaving the ground, it adds a whole new element to the race.

For 2014, the Robby Gordon Formula Off-Road Stadium Truck Series returns to Toronto with the Honda Indy. This is another amazing race series that you have to check out.

It’s off-road trucks…but they are set up to run on the Indy track before the main race. How amazing is that??

I’m super pumped to see these trucks as well as the Indy cars. July 20th can’t come soon enough.

Check out the details of the race series here.

Here is some footage from last year.

The Honda Indy in Toronto has become a pretty big deal.

The Honda Indy is not just about racing anymore. The event has attracted some amazing side shows to the weekend to help bring a little something for everyone. Not just the car lovers.

This year, in addition to features like Gourmet Food Trucks, the event has also added live entertainment like the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series for its Canadian Championships. Fans in attendance will be able to see top professional logger sports athletes compete in such events as the Standing Block Chop, the STIHL Stock Saw, the Underhand Chop, the Single Buck, the Springboard and the Hot Saw. You will also see the Toronto leg of the SCOTT FireFit Championships, a series of events that have been described as Olympics for firefighters and smokeaters.

You can also check out the return of the JR Honda Red Riders to see the fundamentals of offroad dirt biking.

I’m going to be at the end trying to take it all in. There will be so much to do, and I will only be there for one day to do it.

Are you going to be at the Honda Indy in Toronto this year?

Subaru: Launch Control Series

I love Auto Racing. More than the racing itself, I love the engineering and dedication from the race teams to make it all come together. It’s a constant struggle and search for more speed.

The Subaru Rally Team USA has put together an amazing web show called Launch Control to show you the progression of the Subaru Rally America and Global Rally Cross Teams. It’s an great series showing behind the scenes of auto racing.

Honda Rally Racing…In a Fit?!

In other parts of the world, the Honda Fit is called the Honda Jazz.
And in other parts of the world, the Honda Jazz is used as a full blast rally car!!! Intense!

If you have come in and talked to me about the Fit, you know that I’m completely amped about this platform. I think the potenial of being a track race car is amazing, and it would be a blast to slam through the gears, but I never even considered it as a rally car.

Check out this video to see the Honda Jazz Rally in action.
